Sunday Sept 15 Update!

I'm renewing my commitment to keeping this blog more up to date! Here is the kiddo run down...

Becca & Jamey are busy painting there new home & Eli is having his 1st birthday on Sunday Sept 23rd!!! He is standing, doing his own version of crawling and may surprise us all and walk for the big day! Jamey has a furniture piece that Walmart will be carrying and has another in the works for Target! Becca is busy painting, stripping wallpaper, ripping up floors, etc plus she may start tutoring with Kaplan Learning doing SAT/ACT prep (who's daughter is she?)

Wes moves into his new 4 bedroom rental home on Chappaquiddick, we are thrilled that he found this place after almost 5 yrs of rough apt. living...now everyone can come visit him & Ceylene. We hear Ceylene has an amazing garden this year...including eggplant!

Matt is leaving the Vineyard in early Nov and headed on his road trip ...seeing friends & family in Maine, Boston, NYC, Dano in Virginia and Greensboro to see the Kearl's....ending in Park City to work for his 3rd year at the Canyons Ski Resort.

Carrie is busy with work, fitness, and has recently gone Vegan on us.

Cristina & Juan will be moving in with us in Oct for a few months...this will give me an opportunity to beat then in cards more often! Cristina will be starting BYU Independent Study working on her general ed. classes. Bill is excited to finally be able to learn Spanish from Juan & have a ESPN sports buddy back in the house.

Dano is at Southern Virgina...I think the school and town was much smaller than he thought! He is adjusting to college life...playing lots of tennis (season starts in Spring 08)...and seem to be actually studying...the official word is there are NO cute girls!

I had a great time taking Dano to school and seeing my sweet Eli...but never again in August!

What a treat last week to have Mom & Dad come out...we had a great time...they were able to attend the Women's Expo that I put on for our company. We also got to go to sweet Henry Rich's blessing! See Megan & Mike and Chris & Delonnie!! We ended the week with all our favorite The Chef's Table in Provo...Dad got to watch the John Wayne Movie Marathon with Juan! Mom and Cristina were off tapping their feet to Hairspray!

Daniel's off to College!

Tears were not shed (in Utah anyway), but Robbie is taking Daniel to SVU (Southern Virginia University) and who knows what will happen there.

He's gone a long ways from Utah, but relatively close to Becca, Jamey, and Eli in Greensboro, NC (3 hours away by car). He is rooming with his former best buddy from Maine, Nick Davis, now from Atlanta.

He's checking out the tennis team today, and we'll keep you posted on his athletic and academic prowess.

SVU is a small school, only about 900 students. We figure that Dan-O can get BMOC (big man on campus) or BJOC (big jokester on campus) while there.

We will miss him, but are very proud of him and hopeful that he has as much fun at college as his parents did! (He hopefully will wait longer than the first dance as a freshman to meet his future wife though...which his mom and dad did).

A Sad but glad Dad

Bill's movie reviews

This is not sanctioned by the film industry or even by Robbie or any of my kiddos...but I thought I'd give you my latest picks and pans in the newest Hollywood movies:

Pan: Fantastic 4 and the Silver Surfer:
-Give me a break...someone hire a new writer already! The lines were corny, contrived and the plot had tremendous holes. I mean, if you've got Jessica Alba in hot outfits, why spoil it with stupid lines and poor plots?

-I didn't like the first one...but after reading some reviews and consulting with 18 year old son Daniel, we decided to give it a try...bad idea!

Pick: Live Free or Die Hard...Bruce Willis' newest flick

Awesome all the way...action, good writing, great bad guy
...and loveable, bleeding tough guy John McLain (Willis) make this a non-stop must see!

There you have it...Bill's lastest

Daniel and Bill Doubles Champs in Tourney!

Daniel and his old man survived 9 hours of tennis on Saturday, June 23rd to pull off a win in the Pleasant Grove Strawberry Days tournament. Last year we won in the "B" division, and this year we won in the "A" division.

It was pretty good tennis, Daniel played a bit better than the old guy did, but together we survived the 90-100 degree weather and were the last team standing. We played against some friends, another father-son duo, in the final and it ended in a tie breaker! We came on strong in the tie break which we won 7-1 with an emphatic overhead from Bill that unfortunately hit the son on the other team in the head!

It was a great way to finish a long day...

It looks like Daniel is off to Southern Virginia University to play tennis in August. We're excited, even though Robbie's concerned about how far away it is.

Talk to you soon,

Bill

Bill's done two triathlons in a row...

While I'm not setting any records for speed, my times are improving and I'm feeling much better especially swimming than in the beginning! Here's a picture of a quartet of us at the most recent tri (another sprint: 1/2 mile swim, 10 mile bike, 3.1 mile run) at Benjamin, UT. It was along the shores of the lovely Utah lake.

I'm catching on to relaxing in the water while swimming (not rocket science here huh). This week end Daniel and I defend our doubles tennis win from last year in nearby Pleasant Grove, then I'll do about 2-3 more triathlons in July.

Hope all is well,

Bill

Laugh for the Day

My friend and co-worker Maren just sent me this & I thought it was worth posting!

A Bishop was visiting the home of two Ward members, a newlywed couple. At the garden apartment where they lived it was obvious from the giggling inside that someone was at home, but no answer came to his repeated knocks, he even called out to let them know it was he at the door. Everything had gone silent. Then he took out a business card and wrote 'Revelation 3:20' on the back of it and stuck it in the door.

The following Sunday his card was placed in one of the tithing envelopes and given to one of his councilors who in turn returned it to the Bishop. Added to the card was this cryptic message, 'Genesis 3:10.'
Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, he broke up in gales of laughter.

Revelation 3:20 begins 'Behold, I stand at the door and knock.'
Genesis 3:10 reads, 'I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid, for I was naked.'

Update on Bill

Yes, I am beyond words to express how AWESOME it was to see Daniel play two great days of tennis and along with his doubles partner WIN a state tennis championship! Anything that I've done in tennis or any other sport pales next to that...and I couldn't be happier.

I am busy in practice helping lots of families be happier and healthier and loving it, (you can see my office website by clicking on Bill in the main blog site).

I'm also doing my best to get ready for 3 more triathlons this summer. Two smaller sprint ones here in Utah, and one Olympic distance one in Idaho...the infamous Spudman triathlon. I'm getting a bit better in the swim, convinced Robbie I needed a new bike, and am running pretty decent for an old duffer as well.

We are both proud and sad that Daniel is about to graduate from high school and then go on to be a Utah State Aggie.

We love having 4 of our 6 kids around and especially love having our 7 1/2 month old grandson Elias around a lot!

Hope all is well with all of you.

Love,

Bill
